Privacy Policy
This policy explains how KhanaGenie handles information when you use the KhanaGenie mobile app and website. KhanaGenie helps you find meal ideas based on ingredients and preferences.
Information we handle
- Account information, including your email address, username, and the identifier supplied by our sign-in provider.
- App choices and content, including dietary preferences, selected ingredients, saved dishes, cooking history, and grocery-list items.
- Authentication credentials. Sign-in tokens are stored securely on your device; passwords are handled by Amazon Cognito and are not stored by KhanaGenie.
- Technical information needed to operate and secure the service, such as request logs, timestamps, IP address, and error information processed by our hosting providers.
Voice input
Voice input is optional and requires microphone and speech-recognition permission. KhanaGenie uses the speech recognition service available on your device to convert spoken ingredients to text. The app does not save or upload an audio recording to KhanaGenie servers. Your device's speech provider may process audio under its own privacy terms.
How we use information
We use information to authenticate you, provide meal recommendations, maintain your favorites, history, and grocery list, respond to support requests, prevent misuse, and keep the service reliable and secure. We do not sell personal information or use it for third-party advertising.
Service providers and transfers
We use service providers including Amazon Web Services for authentication, APIs, and operational logs, and a managed PostgreSQL provider for application data. These providers process information only to deliver their services to us. Information may be processed in countries other than your own, subject to provider safeguards and applicable law.
Retention and deletion
We retain account data while your account is active and as needed to operate the service. You can delete your account in the app from the Account section. This deletes your KhanaGenie profile, favorites, cooking history, grocery list, and sign-in account. You can also request deletion from our account deletion page. Limited information may remain temporarily in service-provider backups or where retention is required for security, fraud prevention, or law.
Security
We use encrypted HTTPS connections, managed authentication, restricted production configuration, and access controls intended to protect your information. No system can guarantee absolute security.
Children
KhanaGenie is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information.
Changes and contact
